K-7 Summer Reading

The Curriculum and Instruction Department provides myON as a Summer Reading resource for
grades K-7. During the summer, students will have access to thousands of digital books.
Students will continue reading on their myON accounts via Clever. In addition, families and
students will be able to view their reading progress on the student dashboard and complete the
summer reading activities assigned to them.

The 2024 Summer Reading Resource is designed to encourage every student from kindergarten
to seventh grade to choose digital books they prefer for independent reading, research, and fun.
myON provides students with access anytime and anywhere to continue growing their love for
reading during the summer.

Students will receive a suggested reading list this summer for celebrating diversity, teaching
kindness and respect, life science selections, and targeted grade-level book recommendations.

Additionally, family activities that start and end with a good book are included for students to
enjoy throughout the summer. Therefore, reducing the summer slide effect empowers students
with engaging content choice and motivation. The summer reading packet can be found by

Class of 2024 Summer Assignment:

As part of our continued effort to support our students with their literacy skills during the summer, all students entering grades 9-12 will be provided a summer reading assignment. This year students have a choice of titles to choose from and can access books electronically from The Jersey City Free Public Library on both the Hoopla and Libby account. Students can also access choices on StudySync and the Project Gutenberg free ebook website.

Holiday Show Information for 9:30am and 6:30pm Shows

9:30 AM Show Information Ticket holders can enter the building at 9:15 through the Main Entrance. Please listen to all directions from the security staff. Please have your tickets ready.  Seating is first-come, first-served. The run time of the show is around 75 minutes.   6:30 PM Show Information  All performers must be picked up by their guardians PRIOR to their call time. We will not bring any late CASPER or YMCA students directly to the Holiday Show Program Rooms.  Call Times: Kindergarten is 6:10pm Grade 1 is at 6:00pm Grade 2 is at 5:50pm Grade 3 is at 5:40pm Individual performers-6:00pm Note: Students must be dropped off at the security desk through the main entrance and taken to the holding rooms by members of the tech crew.
